To that end, the British luxury marque on Thursday revealed its new Champagne Chest, an extravagant way to keep your champagne and caviar cool — and looking glamorous. The Champagne Chest is constructed from carbon fiber and aluminum, over which are layers of leather and wood. The chest pops open at the touch of a button, revealing a champagne set for four, including four cotton napkins. The crystal champagne flutes are hand-blown glass, with the “RR” monogram etched. The chest’s Tudor oak wood lid, meanwhile, becomes a serving tray.Enlarge ImageThe champagne flutes are arranged in a pattern “to evoke memories of a V12 engine,” the company says. Rolls-Royce At either side of the chest, “hammocks” deploy, containing either a bottle of champagne, caviar or other canapés, Rolls-Royce says. Special insulated champagne holders, again made from carbon fiber and aluminum, keep your bubbly at precisely the correct temperature.Champagne not your thing? Rolls-Royce will also offer the chest in a caviar-specific configuration, with two 30-gram containers, as well as mother-of-pearl spoons. Caviar not to your liking? You can also elect to equip the chest with a container featuring three porcelain bowls, “should patrons wish to present their guests with an alternative accompaniment to champagne,” the company says. The Champagne Chest can be yours from £37,000, or about $47,350, from any Rolls-Royce dealership. The company notes that, of course, customers can customize the color of the chest to their exact specifications, in the same way buyers can choose every aspect of the design of their new car. Bangladesh Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader. File PhotoRuling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said the BNP has sensed that they have no scope to go to power normally. That is why they along with their fundamentalist ally are planning to topple the government, he added, reports BSS.“They (BNP) should keep in mind that it is not 2014, it is 2018. The people of the country will give befitting reply to the BNP if they want to create anarchy centering the forthcoming parliamentary polls,” he told newsmen after attending a mass-contact programme of AL in city’s Gabtoli area.Earlier, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, distributed leaflets in the area on the fifth day of AL’s week-long mass contact programme for showcasing the development works by the government and highlighting acts of terrorism and violence of the BNP and its ally Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.He said the BNP is pursuing dirty politics over the health issue of its chief Khaleda Zia.Quader also said the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University is the right place for the treatment of Khaleda Zia.The court has also given the directive to this end, he said, adding the government is not doing any dirty politics on Khaleda Zia’s health issue. But, Quader said, the leaders of the BNP are indulged in nasty politics on Begum Zia’s treatment. The ruling party general secretary said, “I didn’t tell any party to make unity with us. I said that the left-leaning parties believe in the spirit of the liberation war and they respect father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”“I urged them to be united. We want unity against fundamentalist evil forces, against the dirty politics and against the enemies of the liberation war.”About the use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Quader said his party wants the EVMs to be used in a limited scale in the upcoming national polls. X Jen RiceApartment building at Market Square Park in downtown Houston.Deborah Whisnand has lived in an apartment complex in the Greenway-Upper Kirby neighborhood for close to 18 months. When she signed the lease, her monthly rent was $1,300. But when she recently got her renewal notice, she was shocked.“The 12-month lease, which I certainly was willing to do – I’m not going anywhere – was just under 20 percent higher,” Whisnand said. “Just under $1,600.”She was expecting some sort of an increase, just like she’s gotten at previous apartments, but not of this magnitude.“That’s quite a large amount, no doubt,” Bruce McClenny, president of ApartmentData.com, said.Rents have increased after Hurricane Harvey, he said, simply because occupancy levels have gone up more than usual.“Maybe we see 12,000 to 14,000 units rented in a year,” he said. “And we had 17,000 to 18,000 rented in a matter of two to three months.”McClenny said average rents for class A apartments have risen by more than $70 across Greater Houston since Harvey. He expects landlords to try and maintain the higher rent levels, but they might have to come back down when the many displaced homeowners move back into their repaired houses next year.
